Slowing down to let God’s Word speak to your heart
Step By Step Guide
1. Prepare (Silencio – Be Still)
Find a quiet place. Take a few deep breaths. Ask God to speak to you through His Word.
2. Read (Lectio – Read the Word)
Read the verse slowly and carefully. What words or phrases stand out to you?
Tip: Read it more than once. Listen as if God is speaking directly to you.
3. Reflect (Meditatio – Think About It)
Ask: Why did that word or phrase catch my attention? What is God saying to me?
Let the verse sink in. Don’t rush this.
4. Respond (Oratio – Talk to God)
Speak to God about what you heard. Thank Him, ask Him questions, or confess what you’re feeling.
Make it a conversation, not a performance.
5. Rest (Contemplatio – Sit with God)
Spend a few quiet moments in God’s presence. Don’t say anything—just enjoy being with Him.
