GOD HEARS FROM US
Invitation to gather together
O Lord,
We commune with you every day, but weekdays are worldly days, and secular concerns reduce heavenly impressions.
We bless you for this day, sacred to our souls. We wait upon you to be refreshed. We thank you for our church, together we draw near to you and you to us;
We rejoice in another Lord’s Day when we call our minds from the cares of the world and attend to You without distraction;
Let our coming together be in love, our conversation uplifting, our communion pure, hearing the Word profitable, Grow and elevate our souls.
We are the house of prayer, pour upon us the spirit of grace and supplication
We are the house of praise, awaken in us every grateful and cheerful emotion
We are the house of your word, use us to give testimony to the Word preached, and glorify it in the hearts of all who hear;
Use us to enlighten the ignorant, awaken the careless, reclaim the wandering, establish the weak, comfort the feeble. Make us ready: a people for you, our Lord.
When we depart let us be a sanctuary to those who have not yet come to you. Give to us that we might have grace towards our dependents, forgiveness towards our enemies, peace towards our neighbors, openness towards our fellow Christians.
