What is Sin?

Sin is called many different things: Missing the mark (Rom 2:12-13), Impiety, godlessness (Rom. 1:18), unrighteousness (1 John 1:9), lawlessness (1 John 3:4), brings wrath (Rom. 4:15), disobedience (Heb. 4:11) and even thoughts can be sinful (Romans 7:7-8). Each of these definitions carries a different understanding of what sin is but ultimately point to the same truth: sin is any action which is not of God. God’s final punishment of sin is exercised at the white throne judgment (1 Corinthians 15:20-28. Revelation 20:10-15).
